The 6th International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (CMBEBIH 2025) was held in Sarajevo from September 11 to 13, 2025, bringing together more than 300 participants from academia, industry, healthcare, and the public sector. Under the theme “From Science to Business”, the conference provided a platform for exchanging knowledge, presenting cutting-edge research, and strengthening collaboration between science, education and innovation.
Within this vibrant setting, the NANO-THINK project was actively disseminated through a dedicated session on critical thinking in science and education. The session featured the presentation of scientific papers exploring different dimensions of critical thinking, followed by two dynamic panel discussions that fostered dialogue across diverse stakeholders.
The first panel gathered representatives of the NANO-THINK project partners: Verlab Institute, Medical University of Graz, University of Donja Gorica, IANUBIH and International Burch University. Panelists presented the goals and expected impact of the project, while also engaging in a broader discussion on the role of critical thinking in the various domains addressed by the project. The exchange highlighted the need for systematic approaches to integrate critical thinking into research, higher education and innovation processes.
The second panel brought together representatives of secondary schools to discuss the current level of critical thinking among students. The conversation focused on the challenges faced at this stage of education, as well as on the potential steps and methodologies that could be implemented to strengthen students’ critical thinking skills. The dialogue underscored the importance of embedding these competencies early in the educational journey to prepare young generations for a fast-changing world.
Through this session, NANO-THINK successfully reached a broad international audience, positioning critical thinking as a key competence for scientific excellence, education and societal progress. The discussions not only showcased the project’s objectives but also created new opportunities for collaboration with educators, researchers, and policy-makers.
The presence of NANO-THINK at CMBEBIH 2025 reaffirmed the project’s relevance and impact, while contributing to the overall mission of the conference, to bridge science and business, and to advance knowledge that benefits society.
